Best New Years Eve Ever!

New Years 2008 Olympics!
For New Years we decided to do something fun and different so we put together an Olympic themed game night!  Seriously...it was a blast, we had so much fun!!!!  We can't wait until next New Years!  So, we had 4 teams, 3 0r 4 people on each team.  Each team chose a different country to represent and then dressed up in the olympic or cultural gear of the country.  We made different foods from each country and then played games and added up the points at the end...and this year Brazil took the gold!
Group Shot!  Brazil: Aimee, Javi, Kait and Brenden.  India: Me, Cailin and Travis.  Somoa: Jake, Kik, Kevin and Jackie,  Then up on top- Sweden: Mitch, Drew and Elise.
Oh and Micah was part of team Brazil too!

Here I am in the kitchen- we made curried lentils and naan bread for India.  We made swedish meatballs and got swedish fish for Sweden.  We made black bean salsa and rice for Brazil. And we made a coconut rice drink and mango salsa  and pineapple for Somoa.  It was all delicious!

Cailin and Kait!

We chose India because we like India!

Kim and Jake chose Somoa because Jake is 1/2 Somoan.  And soon Kim will have a Somoan last name...Muai!

Aimee, Kait, Javi and Brenden chose Brazil because Aimee served a mission in Brazil and because Kait is kind of a crazy, hippie Brazilian at heart!

Drew, Elise and Mitch chose Sweden because the Lundquist's are Swedish and Drew served his mission there!  Elise had to wear a blonde wig because she was Swedish after all!  P.S. Mitch knew you (Chris Rueckert) would appreciate the Swedish representation!!!

Oh yeah!

One game, we had to see how long it took the entire team to put out three candles by spitting water from behind the line!  This was hysterical!

Mitch was pretty impressive!

Team Somoa won this game!

We played a hand slapping game and Brazil  took that one!

Brenden's face when he realized Brazil won!

We played an "Around-the-World" ping pong game where you hit it once and pass the paddle!  We we dying laughing in this game!

Oh, the concentration!

The final count down...Happy New Year!

Sweden and India...big time allies!

Go Brazil!

Paddle Out for Tyler Carlston

On December 27th, we were able to participate in a Paddle Out in memory of Tyler Carlston.  It was incredibly moving and we felt honored to be there.

Typical Kait and Cailin!

Group shot of everyone there!

That is everyone out in the ocean placing flowers, holding hands and splashing the water in Tyler's memory.

Micah was freezing by the time he got back in!

Afterwards there was a lunch complete with salt water cooked corn.

Elise and Drew...they are the most perfect couple!

Christmas Day!

Christmas morning was so much fun, we went to Mitch's family in the early morning and then to mine after that to open presents.  We had Christmas dinner together with both families!  It was such a great Christmas this year!  (I cannot find the CD that has the pictures from the Lundquist's right now...so this Christmas post is to be continued...

Christmas morning was so much fun but we definitely were missing Ryan and Brittany, who spent Christmas in Texas with Britt's family.

Jade loved the oranges that we get as a tradition each year in our stocking!

Sweet Micah was loving every second of the present opening!

How hot are my sisters?

...and my mom!!!  They all went to the beach with my dad on Christmas day when we were hanging out with the Lundquists!

Christmas Night, the sunset was incredible and so my sisters and dad took some sweet pictures with little Jadey Bug!

Happy Birthday Daddy and Merry Christmas Eve!

I know, I know...it has been FOREVER since I blogged, but since I use this blog as my personal scrap book, I must include the holidays, so sorry it is April and you are just now seeing Christmas pictures!

We did our traditional breakfast in bed for my dad for his birthday!
He is a Christmas Eve baby!

We all went to Crystal Cove to walk around and we ate at this cute cottage cafe for lunch.  It was so beautiful there!  We had a blast!

Later that evening, Micah got to put the star on the tree, something he had been looking forward to for the entire month of December! Can you tell?

Then Micah helped my dad blow out his candles!

My mom made the most delicious Boston Cream Pie!  It was excellent!
It was a great Christmas Eve and a fun celebration of my dad's birthday!  Love you dad!
