Just in time for Valentine's Day!
( I had a few people ask for this recipe a while ago and haven't gotten around until now to finally get it to you (SORRY)- so I decided to post it for everyone instead of find emails and only send it to a few, so...enjoy!)Sugar Cookie Recipe- I usually double this recipe!
3/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
Then add:
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
Then add:
5 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons salt
As soon as you put the flour in- beat as little as possible (still needs to be mixed though)- but you don't want to over handle the dough because you will be working with it so much later!
Then Refrigerate the dough covered tightly with saran wrap for at least a hour!
Take out of fridge- sprinkle flour on counter and roll out with rolling pin and cut out shapes.
Bake at 350 for like 7-10 minutes... until they look just about done- not quite golden yet.
FROSTING:
I use the frosting recipe that is on the back of the C & H powdered sugar box.
1 pound of powdered sugar
1/2 cup butter softened (1 cube)
1/4 cup of milk- (I add a tiny bit more)
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
Then add:
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
Then add:
5 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons salt

Thanks Lindsay! I am excited to try this :)
I've tried lots of sugar cookie recipes in my search for "just the right one". Judging by your picture...this may be it!! Thanks!
Linds! You read my mind. I seriously was minutes from calling you... then I realized it was early but I wanted to make this recipe this morning for Jack and the family. So thank you posting this and sharing it with everyone. That was so nice of you.
PS... Jack is sitting next to me pointing at Micah and making kissy sounds! It's cute! He's says Miiiccc...Someday he will get it right. Let's do lunch or something today if you are feeling up to it.
I LOVE YOU GUYS! xxxxxxM
